Pig farming must be simplified to be worry-free and efficient
Pig farming must be simplified! This is a point repeatedly emphasized by an expert with twenty years of pig farming experience. So how exactly do you simplify it?
1. Simplify vaccination.
Pig farming diseases are complex now, and one reason is that medication during pig farming is too chaotic and there are too many vaccines. Some are spread by vaccines. The diseases of any pig farm cannot be solved by vaccines alone. Recommendation: vaccinate pigs only against primary diseases; preventing secondary and complex diseases has minimal effect. For example, only vaccinate against 4 vaccines: swine fever, pseudorabies, foot-and-mouth disease, and parvovirus. Other common diseases do not need immunization, for example, porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome.
2. Simplify health care.
When the topic of pig herd health care comes up, many friends care most about what health care drugs are best, as if health care is about how to medicate and what to medicate with, expecting one good dose to guarantee safety. In particular, some brochures on pig herd health care programs printed and distributed by veterinary drug factories and dealers are actually guiding people on how to use more drugs. This way of thinking is very one-sided; if pig farms focus their energy on these aspects of health care, they are going in the opposite direction. So how do you make health care simple? Improving the pig farm environment is the foundation, strengthening the pig herd's constitution is the key, and reasonable immunization is fundamental.
3. Simplify deworming.
Deworming uses different drugs in the four seasons, and the deworming methods also differ. Some pig farms now blindly use ivermectin and avermectin for deworming, with poor results, leading to repeated medication and high-dose medication. In spring and autumn, deworming with ivermectin and avermectin works well, but in summer and winter, levamisole works better. By medicating according to different seasons and using drugs reasonably, deworming can be simplified, saving the pig farm from the troubles of parasites.
4. Simplify disinfection.
Do not disinfect blindly, and even more so do not disinfect excessively. Completely eliminating pathogenic microorganisms is impossible, unrealistic, and unnecessary. At the same time, not every successful disinfection plan can be copied exactly, just like epidemic prevention procedures: the one that suits you is the best. For disinfection, how can it be made simple? Establishing a healthy micro-ecosystem can make disinfection simple. If the pig herd is in a sub-healthy state for a long time and diseases occur one after another, then disinfection will always be in a passive state.
5. Simplify laboratory diagnosis.
As mixed infections on pig farms increase day by day, pig farms should use laboratory testing scientifically and reasonably to accurately determine the cause of pig diseases, and then effectively treat the symptoms. This is the decisive basis for epidemic prevention for the entire pig farm, but many pig farms conduct laboratory diagnosis once every two months or even once a month in order to know the pathogen situation at any time. This is completely unnecessary; doing it once a quarter is enough.
6. Simplify feeding management.
On many pig farms, feeding management personnel are very arbitrary about the order of work. Even if there are pig farm management procedures, they turn a blind eye, or even shelve them, which leads to problems such as unbalanced nutritional ratios and unscientific temperature management. What is the way to solve these problems? Follow the procedures! If pig farm feeding management strictly follows the procedures and goes step by step, the work can be simplified, efficiency can be improved, and benefits can be increased.
In addition, in response to market fluctuations and the gradual increase in scale, pig farms and households must never invest the money they earned through hard work into the pig farming industry, because pig farming is increasingly becoming a competition and contest of capital; if you do not have abundant funds, and if you do not have the wealth and temperament to lose eight hundred thousand or a million and remain calm, then withdraw from the pig farming industry as soon as possible, the earlier the better!
