A bountiful harvest of oil tea fruit: Luofang Township in Liancheng County, Fujian, bends under the weight of abundant fruit

On October 30, in Shangluo Village, Luofang Township, Liancheng County, at the Baishuisai hill field of the Liancheng Yilian Family Planning Family Farm, farm owner Luo Yisheng and 63-year-old Chen Jinqun happily picked oil tea fruit (as shown in the photo).
Luo Yisheng once worked at the county beer factory and at a soft-shelled turtle farm run by people from Fuqing, and also worked as an individual transporter. In 2009, he leased 1,200 mu of hill field in the village's Baishuisai and, with the support of the county forestry department, developed ecological forestry. In earlier years, he received nearly 160,000 yuan in support funds from the county forestry bureau for projects such as seedlings and mountain forestry roads, and also obtained a loan by mortgaging his forest rights. He invested more than 2 million yuan in total and that year opened small terraces on more than 500 mu of barren hillside and planted oil tea seedlings. This year, 400 mu of oil tea have come into full fruit. "Frost's Descent" has passed, and the picking period has begun. The total output value is expected to reach more than 500,000 yuan. The 12 women from family-planning households working at Yilian Family Farm each increase their income by more than 2,000 yuan per month.
