The problem of rural waste sorting and disposal urgently needs attention
Recently, while visiting the countryside, I saw that many villages have set up garbage bins, but the waste is not sorted, recycled or treated. It not only damages the land surface and pollutes rivers, but also breeds mosquitoes and flies, threatening people's health. Rural waste sorting urgently needs attention.
For rural waste sorting and disposal, on the basis of scientific planning, shared waste sorting sites for several villages should be established according to each village's population size and on the principles of being nearby, economical and convenient for transport. Once rural waste sorting sites are built well, diversified financing methods such as local subsidies can also be adopted to set up a special fund for rural environmental sanitation and open a dedicated account, so as to solve the funding constraints on waste treatment. This work should also be listed as an important part of the annual work assessment for township and village leaders. In terms of manpower input, each village can hire dedicated cleaners from among the villagers to take charge of sanitation cleanup in each village, ensuring that rural waste is collected and cleared daily.
Waste sorting and disposal should be combined with rural toilet improvement, water improvement and biogas construction. In addition to waste sorting, landfill and incineration methods, harmless treatment of rural waste can also be driven by building biogas digesters and developing ecological agriculture. If biogas digesters were popularized in rural areas, leftover food, vegetable roots and leaves, and human and livestock manure in household waste would be effectively treated. Build the biogas digester and toilet as one, and the biogas slurry can be used to water fruit trees, grow vegetables or raise fish. Building more biogas digesters would not only become the main means of harmless waste treatment, but the biogas slurry is also a highly efficient organic fertilizer, achieving a win-win of economic and ecological benefits.
