Changfeng, Anhui Develops Eco-Agriculture to Help Targeted Poverty Alleviation

In Qingfengling Village, Gangji Town, Changfeng County, Hefei, farmer-entrepreneur Shen Juncheng has contracted 2400 mu of transferred land. Under the guidance of agricultural structural adjustment, he planted pecans (Bigen nuts), and also intercropped crops such as wheat and soybeans under the trees. He also uses self-produced corn, wheat and ryegrass to raise Wanxi white geese, creating a modern industrialized ecological farm that combines planting and breeding. At present, the farm also employs more than fifty workers, all of whom are left-behind elderly people from the local transferred land, allowing them to earn wages in addition to collecting land rent. In addition, Shen Juncheng said that he has cultivated 500,000 grafted seedlings of pecan varieties and plans to help impoverished households throughout the county plant pecans, driving them to escape poverty and become better off.
