A young man born in the 1980s manages farmland with his mobile phone

Sitting at home drinking tea and chatting with guests, he can manage hundreds or even over a thousand mu of orchard with just a tap on his mobile phone. Have you ever heard of this? The person who brought this technology to the Leizhou Peninsula is Xing Yilong. Now 28 years old, he graduated from South China Agricultural University in 2011. In 2013, he introduced foreign technology and built an "intelligent farmland management system" at the planting base in Xuwen. Irrigation and fertilization of the farmland are fully automated, and soil moisture and temperature can be monitored in real time via mobile phone, with remote commands sent to open the water pump valve for irrigation.

Returning home after completing his studies to carry out agricultural innovation

Xing Yilong is a native of Xuwen, with dark skin and a sturdy build. In 2008, while still a first-year university student in Guangzhou, he was fortunate enough to be invited to Israel for an inspection visit.

Xing Yilong told reporters that in Israel, people grow bananas, vegetables and other fruits on the Gobi Desert and in deserts, and even irrigate with salt water, yet achieve high yields that are exported to Europe and the United States. After returning to China, he did a one-year internship at an Israeli agricultural company operating in China. These experiences exposed him to the world's most advanced agricultural technology and strengthened his determination to return home after completing his studies to carry out agricultural innovation. In 2011, after graduating from South China Agricultural University, Xing Yilong returned to Guangdong Fumin Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., founded by his father, to work as a grassroots manager, devoting himself to researching agricultural technology and management at the Nanning base.

In 2012, on Xing Yilong's suggestion, the company decided to begin self-reform, with the direction being to develop from a traditional extensive enterprise into a modern intensive enterprise, adopting refined management methods and modern technology.

Farmland can be irrigated by giving commands via mobile phone

In 2013, the company built an "intelligent farmland management system" at the Xuwen base by introducing foreign equipment and technology. During operation, field soil sensors buried 30 cm deep in the soil transmit data collected by tensiometers, including the humidity and temperature of the soil and air, soil water content, as well as light, wind direction, valve switching and other data, to a database via a wireless network, where it is converted into digital signals to determine whether there is a water shortage. If there is a shortage, a command is sent to the water pump valve to achieve automatic irrigation. At the same time, the above signals are also sent to the computer at the company headquarters. Through a custom-developed APP control software connected to the above system and installed on his own mobile phone, the relevant data collected by the above equipment can be viewed via computer and mobile phone, and the computer and mobile phone can be turned into a control terminal. Commands can be issued remotely via computer or mobile phone to open the water pump valve for irrigation at any time.

On Xing Yilong's suggestion, the company also hired graduate students and invested 2 million yuan to establish a laboratory for soil testing, achieving precise fertilization. Xing Yilong said he hopes that in the future he can lead their team to help more farmers or agricultural companies realize the dream of producing high-quality, healthy fruit.
