Yang Wen Takes Organic Vegetables Overseas and Sells Them Abroad
"No pesticides, no chemical fertilizers, intensive cultivation, all organic fertilizer, caring for every vegetable like your own child - green, eco-friendly, organic, pollution-free. I think this is why they sell so well." On November 10, when the reporter interviewed Yang Wen, the head of Dingxin Modern Agriculture Development Co., Ltd., in Guozhuang Village, Goulin Town, Dengzhou City, this widely known "Organic Vegetable King" introduced his organic vegetables to the reporter with great emotion.
On May 11, the Dengzhou City Famous, Excellent and Special Commodities Promotion Fair was held in Beijing, with more than 200 kinds of famous, excellent and special commodities from 31 enterprises in the city participating in the fair. The organic vegetables (Cantonese flowering Chinese cabbage) displayed by Yang Wen were enthusiastically sought after by Beijing residents, with sales extremely brisk, setting a high-price record of 29 yuan per jin.
In 2012, Yang Wen, who returned home to start a business, established Dengzhou City Dingxin Modern Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. - a large-scale green vegetable planting company, mainly growing 15 varieties including Cantonese flowering Chinese cabbage, Japanese kale, and Danish spinach. With a total investment of 17.4 million yuan, it transferred 1,500 mu of land at a price of 850 yuan per mu per year, and at a construction cost of 5,700 yuan per mu laid efficient water-saving sprinkler irrigation facilities on all 1,500 mu of land, hiring nearly 200 professional vegetable planting workers from Guizhou, with an average salary of about 6,000 yuan per person per month.
"Each flowering Chinese cabbage must be picked when it grows to 13 cm, and the standard weight of a basket of vegetables is 17.5 kg. Anything that does not meet the requirements is uniformly considered substandard." Yang Wen took Cantonese flowering Chinese cabbage out of the cold storage and introduced it to the reporter.
The bold investment, strict grading and packaging, and the pursuit of perfection in selecting vegetables have also brought frequent good news for Yang Wen's organic vegetables.
"Organic vegetables initially went south to Shenzhen and Hong Kong to open direct-sales stores, and now they have gone north to the capital for direct supply to supermarkets. And this year, signing an organic vegetable planting contract with Hubei Shoukang Yongle Supermarket has even launched an order-based planting model. Picked in the morning, they can be served on the dining table by noon, saving merchants time and improving supply efficiency." Yang Wen said, "Vegetables also take planes abroad for a 'spin.' The farthest they are sold is Barcelona, Spain, and they often fly from Shenzhen to Singapore to 'visit.'"
The broad market development prospects give Yang Wen full confidence. Next year, he plans to build his "vegetable garden" into an "organic village" covering 4,000 mu and integrating leisure, sightseeing, picking, dining, and accommodation.
