The two-story small Western-style building stood out particularly in the small mountain village; many fruit trees were planted around the house, and golden oranges hung heavily on the branches; in front of the door there was also a well-tended fish pond about 3 mu wide, with sparkling water on the surface. Such a beautiful scene made people feel that the new countryside was right before their eyes.

Village Party secretary Zong Xingcheng, who was accompanying them, said: "The head of this household is named Huang Wencheng. He is a model in our village of returning home to start a business, become prosperous, and drive many people to increase their income. Not long ago, he was also elected as a town people's congress representative and attended the people's congress." Led by Secretary Zong, everyone walked into Huang Wencheng's orchard. He was putting support poles under fruit trees that were almost bent to the ground by the fruit. "The fruit trees I grow include Dekopon citrus, sugar oranges, kumquats, loquats, and pomelos. There are quite a lot of varieties," said the honest and sincere Huang Wencheng.

Huang Wencheng, 46 this year, admitted frankly that when he was young he worked for others in Chengdu and sold clothes himself. Although he went through 7 years of arduous struggle, because he had no special skill and was not good at doing business, he did not make money. In 1996, he resolutely chose to return to his hometown, and since then invested more than 50,000 yuan in total, using his own land and more than 60 mu of land transferred from neighboring villagers to develop fruit and aquaculture industries, planting more than 1,500 fruit trees of various local rare varieties, and building a well-tended fish pond. As the fruit trees gradually entered their full production period, the fish species increased, and all his agricultural products were green and ecological, market sales exceeded demand. By last year, total income had reached more than 100,000 yuan. At present, the Dekopon citrus has already ripened, and he wants to wait until the Spring Festival to sell at a good price. It is estimated that this year's income will increase somewhat.

"I can increase my income year by year, and I must thank the town and village for their strong support. In particular, as a household with an only child, the town family planning office has supported me for a long time, helping coordinate loans financially and inviting technicians to come to my home to guide and teach planting and breeding techniques," Huang Wencheng said. Now the state pays more and more attention to rural development, and the local area also provides support. Under this excellent situation, he is currently applying to establish a family farm, and also plans to transfer another 40 mu of dry land and more than 10 mu of paddy fields, expanding the orchard to 100 mu and the well-tended fish pond to 20 mu, striving to have total annual income exceed 1 million yuan after 3 years.

More importantly, under his direct leadership and help, in recent years more than 300 villagers in our whole village have also planted fruit and raised fish, and their incomes have generally increased a great deal. He has made a great contribution to the whole village's villagers, especially poor households, becoming prosperous and building a moderately prosperous life." Village Party secretary Zong Xingcheng gave Huang Wencheng high praise.
