Black Goji Berry Helps Zhou Limei Broaden Her Path to Prosperity

In 2015, Zhou Limei of Nancun Village, Duolunnao'er Town, Duolun County, planted 800 mu of black goji berry and a 100-mu seedling base in the village through a model of company investment and villagers contributing land as shares, cultivating 2 million black goji berry seedlings. This autumn, the 30 mu of black goji berry planted in the earlier phase enjoyed a bumper harvest.

"In recent years the market for black goji berry has been rising, averaging more than 600 yuan per jin. Based on the appearance of the dried fruit and the plumpness of the berries, we have so far developed four grades of products, and this year we opened a direct-sales store in the city," said Zhou Limei. Under her leadership, the villagers no longer "hibernate" through the winter, and have instead taken up greenhouse maintenance and online micro-store ordering and shipping. The tiny black goji berry has stirred everyone's desire for prosperity.
