Wang Yuanzhen of Dashan Village: No gain without effort, hard work leads to prosperity
Baisong Village in Bailu Town, Hejiang County, Sichuan Province is a village slated to be lifted out of poverty this year. The village has 141 households and 536 impoverished people. To help advance the fight against poverty and encourage them to rely on their own efforts, to escape poverty, escape it early and escape it well, Bailu Town specially invited Wang Yuanzhen, a large-scale farming and breeding operator from Dashan Village - a rural woman who has emerged from poverty and hardship - to give a lecture on the theme of "Gratitude and Striving" for the impoverished households.
Wang Yuanzhen told her own personal story, from being an ordinary migrant worker and a poor household, with her husband and daughter seriously ill, to how she step by step, with her feet on the ground, walked out of suffering and onto the road to prosperity. In her life she cared for her husband and spent more than 1 million yuan to cure her daughter; in her business she planted Zhenlong pomelo, raised pigs, chickens and ducks, and has now established a cooperative, becoming a large-scale farming and breeding operator.
"To make a fortune, you have to work, you have to work, you gain only if you work for it." This was the sentence she said most throughout her entire speech. Yes, that is what she said, and that is what she did. In 2010, Wang Yuanzhen returned to her hometown of Bailu, planted Zhenlong pomelo, raised pigs, chickens and fish, and opened a rural guesthouse, beginning her road of entrepreneurship. In 2012, seeing the high returns of the pork market, she built a pig farm covering 2000 mu, and in 2013 established the Wangshan Live Pig Breeding Professional Cooperative, becoming a specialized live pig breeding household and opening the door to prosperity through industry. She registered the trademark "Zhengyihe" to "endorse" her "green-shell" eggs, eco-friendly fruit, eco-friendly vegetables and other agricultural products. Now Wang Yuanzhen, approaching 60 years old, is still constantly expanding into new industries. Under her plan, she intends to introduce native chicken "breeding chickens" and develop a native chicken project with her own circular development to save costs. At the same time, with the support of the Bailu Town government, she will also build in Bailu Town a "Lotus Wetland Park" integrating sightseeing, tourism and agricultural product development.
"My mother always taught me that people must know gratitude and know how to repay others," she said. "I know that my industry could not have achieved what it has today without the people around me, without the help of the town government." She has many times given chicken chicks and Zhenlong pomelo seedlings free of charge to registered impoverished households in Bailu Town, Yankou Village in Fubao Town and other places, and also provided free feed, free training in farming and breeding techniques, and promised to buy back the chickens at market price once they grew up. In September this year, she also founded an editor-in-chief training class, freely teaching bamboo weaving skills to impoverished women nearby to strengthen their ability to prosper.
Throughout the speech, applause rang out continuously. After the speech, a villager told this writer: "I was one who went to Sister Wang's place to learn bamboo weaving skills. Now in my spare time I can weave six or seven a day. In the future I need to learn more from her that diligence."
