"Peacock Brother" He Haibo's Road to Returning Home and Starting a Business
"You've raised so many peacocks, and you're so busy. On average you sell around 10 a day, with a profit of 50 yuan per bird. Over a year that's a net profit of more than 100,000 yuan, and this year's income will be quite a lot too." The account manager of the Yaoxu Branch of Jiangxi Dongxiang Rural Commercial Bank was chatting with He Haibo, a villager from Suoshan Village in Yaoxu Township. "My orders haven't stopped all year. To fill customers' orders faster, we have no choice but to scale up and expand breeding." He Haibo said excitedly.
He Haibo graduated from Central China Normal University in 2010 and once worked at an enterprise with a decent income, but for someone with his ideals and ambitions, it felt a little too comfortable. One time, he happened to see peacock farming on TV, which sparked his deep interest. After in-depth study and on-site visits, he found that peacock farming had good prospects. To put his talents to use, he quit his job and returned home to set up a peacock farm, starting his entrepreneurial journey in his hometown.
In the early days of starting his business, he ran into the problems every entrepreneur faces. The initial start-up capital and market channels all needed financial support. When the Yaoxu Branch learned of his difficulties, it took the initiative to send people to visit him. Believing that he had certain professional knowledge and a good credit record, it rated and granted him credit, and within 3 days provided him with a 100,000 yuan start-up loan. This filled He Haibo with surprise and gratitude, and his entrepreneurial path suddenly opened up. With a drive to dig deep and perseverance in enduring hardship, he expanded 10 peacocks to 100 in a short time. In the years that followed, he grew from small orders worth a few thousand yuan a year to large orders worth several hundred thousand yuan from within and outside the province. With a good reputation and solid personal credibility, he was highly favored by customers, and He Haibo also became a locally somewhat famous "Peacock Brother." Today, the farm has developed into an industrial chain covering incubation, seedlings, mature-stage birds and breeding peacocks, with more than 200 breeding peacocks retained, and it has arranged jobs at their doorstep for more than 10 local people left behind at home.
This year, He Haibo applied to the bank for another 500,000 yuan start-up loan to expand his farming scale and set up a professional cooperative, while also engaging in fruit and vegetable planting, striving to build a comprehensive leisure ecological farm integrating combined planting and breeding, leisure and entertainment, and farmhouse dining, so as to lead surrounding farmers to prosperity together.
