Post-90s young man's entrepreneurial dream in Yangxin: growing China's most delicious citrus

Wang Xu, born in 1991, graduated from Wuhan University of Bioengineering. On the battlefield of his entrepreneurship - more than 200 mu of mountain land on Quanshui Mountain in Shuaizhou, Yangxin County - he mainly grows the citrus "Longxiangan". From planting the first citrus seedling to golden fruit hanging all over the branches, three years of effort have filled Wang Xu's heart with immense fulfillment.

Wang Xu was born in Zhongxiang. Both his parents are genuine farmers, and he has had a deep affection for the land since childhood. After graduating from university, when facing "career choice", although he had many options, he still chose farming and to become a new-type farmer. He said this will be the cause he devotes himself to for the long term in the future.

Wang Xu's orchard is located on the south slope of Quanshui Mountain, where annual sunlight reaches more than 1900 hours. The Longxiangan it produces is not only large and plump, but also delicious. Longxiangan looks like a mandarin, tastes like an orange, and has thin skin and basically no seeds. In the full fruit period, the yield is 2500 kg per mu. Calculated at the current market wholesale price of 20 yuan, after deducting various costs and expenses, the benefit per mu exceeds 30,000 yuan.

Wang Xu said that at present, 40% of sales are through picking, cooperation with travel agencies, and distributing promotional flyers to attract traffic, while 60% are online sales, in cooperation with e-commerce platforms such as Zhejiang's "Xianghuoquan" and Baichang Group's "Huopin", as well as the "Huangxiao Tushi" team. Most consumers are middle- and high-consumption groups in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Wuhan. The market sales price is 30 to 45 yuan per kg.

In order to let more people know about Longxiangan so that more people know about Longxiangan, Wang Xu and his partners have registered and established the Quanshui Mountain Planting and Breeding Professional Cooperative. The cooperative's professional team currently has 11 people. Wang Xu: Longxiangan, in terms of the fruit's practicality and customer favorability, in terms of the fruit's eating experience and customer favorability, including its price, currently in Huangshi and even surrounding counties and cities, there is no citrus fruit that can compare with ours. At present, our scale is limited, and the output of the entire Hubei Province is less than 50,000 jin. So the next goal is to expand the area. My ultimate goal is to make our Longxiangan into a distinctive agricultural product fruit for Yangxin and even Huangshi, and make Yangxin a large-scale demonstration base.

Every blade of grass has the dream of breaking through the soil, every seed wants to grow into a towering tree, and Wang Xu's dream - is to grow China's most delicious citrus.
