Detailed introduction to Yuan Longping's South China double-cropping super rice
Yuan Longping's "South China double-cropping super rice" sets a record with an annual yield of 1,537.78 kg per mu
At noon on the 19th, in Huanpi Village, Longtian Town, Xingning City, Meizhou, Guangdong Province, after measuring the yield, the yield measurement and acceptance team for the "South China double-cropping super rice annual yield of 3,000 jin per mu full-process mechanized green and efficient model research project" announced that the project's annual yield per mu had reached 1,537.78 kg, the project experiment was successful, and it set a new world record for rice yield per mu.
After on-site harvesting, weighing and calculation, the late-season actual harvest yield per mu of Yuan Longping's "South China double-cropping super rice annual yield of 3,000 jin per mu full-process mechanized green and efficient model research project" was 705.68 kg (dry grain), plus the early-season yield of 832.1 kg per mu, bringing the final annual yield per mu to 1,537.78 kg (equivalent to 3,075.56 jin).
Luo Xiwen, head of the yield measurement and acceptance expert group and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that Guangdong's climate is characterized by high temperatures, high heat and abundant rain, and rice is highly prone to pests and diseases, so it is not easy to achieve increased yield, especially since late-season weather disasters in the Meizhou area were obvious this year, and the wind and rain brought by Typhoon Haima had a very serious impact. The two-season yield of the project's South China double-cropping rice was equivalent to the previous three seasons, which is a major breakthrough.
