Long-acting slow-release metalaxyl granules developed successfully
In order to effectively control root rot throughout the entire growth period of soybean, the Jiamusi Branch of the Heilongjiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences has in recent years researched and developed a 5% slow-release metalaxyl granule formulation, and conducted indoor tests on the inhibition of mycelial growth of the main pathogenic fungi of soybean root rot, Phytophthora sojae and Fusarium spp., as well as field efficacy trials. The results showed that it can effectively control soybean root rot in the late growth stage of soybean.
The researchers also pointed out that although the formulation has good control efficacy, in future production it is still necessary to mix or rotate it with formulations with different mechanisms of action, so as to avoid or delay the development of fungicide resistance. As of the end of September 2016, China had approved the registration of only 1 metalaxyl granule product. Liu Gang
