New progress made in cultivating large-leaved sea lavender in saline-alkali land
On August 31, the invention patent for "A method for cultivating seedlings of large-leaved sea lavender (Limonium gmelinii) in saline-alkali land in arid regions," completed by associate researcher Zhao Zhenyong and other researchers from the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was granted national invention patent authorization.
The invention relates to a method for cultivating seedlings of large-leaved sea lavender in saline-alkali land in arid regions. In this method, parallel shallow furrows are made in saline-alkali land, and plots of a certain area are flooded and furrow-irrigated to leach salts, keeping the seedbed in a low-salinity state; this simulates the natural conditions for seedling emergence, and "furrow irrigation + sowing after water drains" ensures the successful establishment of large-leaved sea lavender seedlings. Through a combination of techniques including constructing ridge-and-furrow microtopography, plot flooding, and furrow irrigation, the method creates a suitable soil environment for the establishment of large-leaved sea lavender, enabling its large-scale cultivation.
