How Fenlong technology changes traditional farming models

Currently, a new farming technology invented by the Cash Crops Research Institute of the Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other institutions - Fenlong cultivation technology - has attracted attention from many quarters.

Fenlong cultivation technology is a new technology for increasing agricultural yields and improving the ecology. This technology uses a dedicated Fenlong deep rotary tiller to drive vertical spiral drill bits, carrying out deep plowing and deep loosening of the land by vertically rotating and crushing the soil. It promotes the transformation from the traditional "shallow plowing" of turning and crushing soil by plow that has lasted for thousands of years to a new model of "vertical deep rotary cultivation" using modern mechanical equipment, advancing agricultural technology innovation step by step.

Fenlong cultivation technology won the second prize of the Guangxi Technology Invention Award in 2015. The first self-propelled Fenlong machine passed the Guangxi provincial agricultural machinery technical appraisal and obtained certification in 2015, and passed the Guangxi provincial agricultural machinery extension appraisal and obtained certification in 2016.

At present, Fenlong cultivation technology has been tested and demonstrated on more than 20 crops in 21 provinces (regions) including Guangxi, Inner Mongolia and Shaanxi. The results show that without increasing the amount of chemical fertilizers and pesticides applied, the amount of irrigation water used or the input of labor costs, the yield increase effect is significant. In August this year, Hainan included Fenlong machines in provincial agricultural machinery operation subsidies for the first time. Guangxi is also actively promoting further research and development, demonstration and application of Fenlong cultivation technology. Author: Huang Yuhui, Reporter Gao Fei
