Sesame production keeps rising steadily, with 5 types of intelligent equipment lending a hand

It is said that sesame flowers bloom and rise steadily node by node, but compared with the continuous improvement in the mechanization level of crops such as wheat, corn, soybeans, and peanuts, the mechanization of sesame production has long been a "tough old problem," severely restricting the "steady rise" of sesame planting area and farmers' income and efficiency. The Modern Agricultural Equipment Innovation Team of Qingdao Agricultural University successfully developed 5 types of sesame production machinery for the first time in the country, making this difficult problem no longer troublesome. A few days ago, at the 2016 Sesame Efficient and Intelligent Production On-site Observation Meeting held in Henan, these 5 types of machinery were highly sought after as soon as they appeared.

According to Professor Shang Shuqi of the Modern Agricultural Equipment Innovation Team of Qingdao Agricultural University, sesame, as a major economic crop in China, has an annual planting area of more than 7 million mu, but because the degree of mechanization in sesame production is too low and the labor intensity is too high, the development of the sesame industry is severely restricted. With the support of the National Sesame Modern Agricultural Industrial Technology System, the modern agricultural equipment research and development team led by Professor Shang Shuqi of Qingdao Agricultural University specially assigned personnel to form a sesame mechanization technology research group. Centering on sesame planting patterns, they successively developed 5 types of sesame intelligent equipment, including a seed rope weaving machine suitable for sesame sowing, a 6-row precision sesame seeder, an intelligent sesame field management machine, a remote-controlled automatic high-low clearance wide-width sprayer, and a sesame bundling harvester. All are the first generation of domestic machinery specially designed for sesame production, filling the gap in China's sesame production field in one stroke. Professor Shang Shuqi said that after these 5 types of intelligent sesame production machinery are promoted, they will strongly advance full-process mechanization of sesame production, including sowing, weeding, spraying, and harvesting.
