"Jingbai No. 1" fills the gap in domestic white-shell layer breeds

Recently, good news has come again from the layer breeding sector: the new "Jing"-branded layer line "Jingbai No. 1", independently bred by Beijing Huadu Yukou Poultry Industry Co., Ltd., has obtained the "Livestock and Poultry New Breed (Supporting Line) Certificate", filling a gap in domestic white-shell layer breeds. At present, layer breeds are the only livestock and poultry breed in China not controlled by foreign countries.

It is understood that "Jingbai No. 1" is a high-yield layer breed with independent intellectual property rights, suitable for China's rearing environment. In particular, Yukou Poultry adopted advanced molecular genetic testing technology in breeding, removing the fishy smell from eggs and giving them a better taste. Compared with imported layers, Yukou Poultry's "Jingbai No. 1" layers were bred for China's rearing environment, with strong adaptability and stable performance, and have multiple advantages over foreign breeds: first, strong disease resistance and low mortality and culling rates; second, high egg production, with a high laying peak and a long duration; third, low feed consumption and high feed conversion rate; fourth, good egg quality, with uniform and glossy eggshell color, uniform egg size and a high commercialization rate. At present, "Jingbai No. 1" is mainly used for vaccine development in biopharmaceuticals as well as industry processing.

As one of the world's three major layer breeding companies, Yukou Poultry previously bred "Jinghong No. 1", "Jingfen No. 1" and "Jingfen No. 2", all of which are Jing-series high-yield breeds with independent intellectual property rights and internationally leading production performance. They are breeds mainly promoted by the Ministry of Agriculture and are currently the layer breeds most suitable for large-scale, intensive rearing in China, with a cumulative promotion of 3 billion birds and a market share of 50%, helping raise the domestic production rate of layers from less than 30% to 64%, and changing the long-term reliance of China's layer industry on foreign layer breeds. The successful breeding of "Jingbai No. 1" has enabled layer breeds to achieve full coverage of both Chinese standard breeds and specialty breeds. (Reporter Lu Xiaochun)
