Achievements made in compiling the Color Atlas of Parasites of Livestock and Poultry in China

Recently, it was learned from the Shanghai Veterinary Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences that the National Science and Technology Basic Work Special Project "Compilation of the Color Atlas of Parasites of Livestock and Poultry in China," led by Researcher Huang Bing of the institute's Animal Protozoan Disease Innovation Team, has completed its planned tasks and passed acceptance.

China has many species of livestock and poultry parasites with a wide distribution. The number of parasite species parasitic on common livestock and poultry such as horses, cattle, pigs, chickens and ducks reaches more than 2,000, and livestock and poultry raised in all provinces and cities across the country are infected with parasites. Livestock and poultry parasites are both pathogens and important natural science and technology resources.

This project is an effective utilization of China's parasite resources and has greatly enriched the content and presentation methods of China's parasite atlases. The completed atlas and software are powerful tools for correctly identifying parasite species and carrying out epidemiological investigations of parasitic diseases, and play an important role and are of great significance in promoting the development of China's parasitology discipline, improving the teaching level of parasitology, and carrying out science popularization of parasitology knowledge.
