Hai Gua Zi breeding technology passes acceptance in Donggang City

On the morning of July 27, at an ecological aquaculture farm in Beijngzi Town, Donggang City, Liaoning Province, workers carefully scooped out one by one from a pond tiny Nassarius variegatus, only a few millimeters long. These adorable little things are the "table delicacy" locally known as Hai Zhui and Hai Gua Zi.

The Donggang City Science and Technology Bureau organized experts to conduct an on-site acceptance of the artificial breeding technology for Nassarius variegatus at the city's Aquatic Technology Promotion General Station. Nassarius variegatus is an important small economic snail species in the Dandong area, with resources nearly exhausted and a market price of 120 yuan to 150 yuan per kilogram. "Nassarius variegatus is delicious and nutritious, and especially as a leisure food it is deeply loved by the broad masses of the people, with a wide audience and a broad consumer market," said Yuan Tian, section chief of the Disease Prevention Section of the Donggang City Aquatic Technology Promotion General Station. Nassarius variegatus also has the characteristics of strong adaptability to the environment, fast growth speed, a relatively short breeding cycle, relatively low breeding costs, and high economic value. Once the project succeeds, it will be easy to promote rapidly, and the market prospects for seedlings are broad.
