New Techniques for Potato Production

Recently, in order to expand the production scale of virus-free seed potatoes, improve the production technology of microtuber (pre-elite seed potatoes), and innovate the mechanism for propagating improved varieties, Zhuanglang County in Gansu Province successfully introduced the "aeroponics" production technology for potato microtuber (pre-elite seed potatoes) for the first time. This production technology involves spraying a nutrient solution of a certain ratio onto the rhizosphere of potato plants at the right time and in the right amount, so that the potato plants receive sufficient water and nutrients, thereby promoting the growth of potato microtuber.

In recent years, centering on the goal of building "the largest virus-free seed potato breeding base in eastern Gansu," Zhuanglang County has created an integrated industrial development pattern for potatoes covering "introduction, breeding, propagation, promotion, processing, and sales," and has built a potato industry development system integrating potato breeding, shoot-tip virus elimination, and rapid tissue propagation. The introduction and application of this technology will be of great significance for improving Zhuanglang's seed potato breeding system and raising the level of potato industry development.
