Three-resistant wheat's high-yield performance passes actual harvest verification
??? Science and Technology Daily News (Reporter Wei Dong, Correspondent Liu Guanpu) On June 7, the Planting Industry Management Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and the National Agricultural Technology Center organized the "actual harvest verification of the high-yield cultivation trial field with matching good seed and good methods for the disease-resistant, widely adaptable, high-yield wheat 'Shannong 20'." The 'Shannong 20' wheat planted by Sha Deming of Shalou Village, Houji Town, Cao County, Heze City, Shandong Province, and Tang Yuliang of Chenlou Village, Shaozhuang Town, achieved yields of 801.9 kg and 808.5 kg per mu respectively. These yields set the highest per-mu wheat yield records for central Shandong and southwestern Shandong.
??? According to reports, the verification team marked out 2.97 mu and 3.6 mu of wheat respectively from the 10-mu high-yield trial fields planted by the two villagers and conducted actual harvest verification to obtain the above data. 'Shannong 20' is a wheat variety bred by Tian Jichun, a professor at Shandong Agricultural University. It passed national approval in 2011, is suitable for planting in the northern Huang-Huai region, and is suitable for promotion in 7 provinces: Shandong, Henan, Anhui, Jiangsu, Hebei, Shaanxi, and Shanxi. Tian Jichun told reporters that 'Shannong 20' has the characteristics of "three resistances, three goods, two highs, and one strong": disease resistance, cold resistance, and lodging resistance; good plant type, good yellowing, and good grain commodity quality; high spike-forming rate and high yield; and strong wide adaptability.
??? According to high-yield grower Tang Yuliang, he began planting the 'Shannong 20' wheat variety in 2012. That year was a year with a major outbreak of Fusarium head blight, and other wheat varieties were affected to varying degrees and reduced in yield, while his 3.16 mu of wheat subjected to actual harvest verification still reached 767.8 kg per mu. In 2013, the 'Shannong 20' wheat variety withstood the test of low-temperature late spring cold, and most planting areas exceeded 700 kg per mu. That year, the promoted area reached 10.43 million mu, making it the 7th major wheat variety nationwide with an annual promoted area exceeding 10 million mu. As of this year's summer harvest, the 'Shannong 20' wheat variety has been cumulatively promoted and planted on more than 40 million mu across various regions.
