To implement the spirit of the Central Rural Work Conference and the National Agricultural Work Conference, accelerate the transformation and application of agricultural scientific and technological achievements, enhance the contribution of agricultural science and technology to industrial development, and advance the "improving quality and efficiency, transforming the development model, stabilizing grain production and increasing income in a sustainable way" in agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture, in accordance with the Ministry of Agriculture's Measures for Recommending and Releasing Leading Agricultural Varieties and Main Promoted Technologies, organized the selection of 162 leading agricultural varieties and 95 main promoted technologies for 2016, including 23 wheat varieties. They are:

Huang-Huai-Hai region: Jimai 22, Bainong AK58, Xinong 979, Luomai 23, Zhoumai 22, Annong 0711, Luyuan 502, Shannong 20, Yunhan 20410, Shimai 15, Zhengmai 7698, Hengguan 35, Liangxing 66, Huaimai 22

Middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River region: Yangmai 16, Zhengmai 9023, Yangmai 20, Xiangmai 25

Southwest region: Chuanmai 104, Mianmai 367 Northwest region: Ningchun No. 4, Xindong No. 20 Northeast region: Longmai 33

The release of the leading varieties and main promoted technologies in 2016 played a strong guiding role in agricultural production in various regions.

Taking Jimai 22 as an example, it introduced that this variety is suitable for planting in high-water-and-fertilizer plots in Shandong, southern Hebei, southern Shanxi, Anyang and Puyang in Henan, and the Huaibei wheat region of Jiangsu in the northern part of the Huang-Huai winter wheat region.
