Post-90s estate owner Yang Huiqi turns a vineyard into a leisure farm

In 2014, after graduating from university, Yang Huiqi took over Tianpu Estate from her father. In two years, she transformed Tianpu Estate from a traditional grape-growing farm into a new-style farm combining leisure agriculture and sightseeing. She actively took part in industry training, applied what she learned, improved the estate's industry chain, and tried to explore a development path of "agriculture + internet + tourism."
Tianpu Estate is located in Hedong Village, Shenjiaying Town, Yanqing County, Beijing, covering 1,500 mu, with 108 greenhouses and more than 30 grape varieties. The grapes produced by the estate have a sugar content 3 to 5 degrees higher than grapes on the market and are very popular. Although the older generation had built a solid market foundation while running it, Yang Huiqi, who had just taken over the farm, found that government procurement was decreasing year by year and the grape sales share was shrinking; relying only on corporate procurement and retail was far from enough. "When my father ran the estate, he did not care much about the tourist market. If tourists came, they were received, and after arriving they could only pick grapes."
To attract tourists, Yang Huiqi designed a complete touring route: when visitors enter the estate, there is a free guided tour, and they can visit, take photos and experience picking. When tired, they can go to the small fruit exhibition hall for a free tea break. Visitors with children can take them to the children's rest area to play in the sand, go down the slide, and experience tie-dyeing or pottery. In the evening, on the estate square, visitors can watch open-air movies, look at the stars, and release sky lanterns. "This year we will gradually improve it and plan to make 10 free attractions, such as a wishing tree and wishing plaques, and we will also build a tea bar, bar and cafe on one side of the square. Visitors who have finished watching a movie can go and sit for a while."
