Xinhua News Agency, Shijiazhuang, August 24 (Fan Xiaofei, Zhai Chenxiao) Liu Guixia is a rural woman from Zhongmenzhuang Village, Juyang Town, Sanhe City. After her former husband passed away, she never wavered, caring for her father-in-law and mother-in-law for 30 years without change, embodying as a daughter-in-law a touching family bond that surpasses that of one's own children.

When Liu Guixia was 25, her husband died tragically in a car accident, a heavy blow that she found hard to accept for a time. At the time, relatives and friends all advised her, "You're still young, hurry and remarry." Looking at her young children and her white-haired in-laws, Liu Guixia thought it over and still refused.

Holding the two elders' hands, she promised: "Although your son has passed away, your daughter-in-law is still here, and your grandson and granddaughter are still here. No matter how hard it gets, I will definitely keep this family going."

For this one promise, Liu Guixia has kept it up for decades without change, treating her in-laws as her own biological parents. Serving as both daughter-in-law and "son," she became the spiritual pillar keeping the two elders going in life.

Later, through an introduction, Liu Guixia met her current husband. He was moved by Liu Guixia's devotion and was willing to help her hold up this family together. Usually, her husband goes out to work and earn money, while all the affairs inside and outside the household rely on Liu Guixia to manage.

In 2012, her 80-year-old mother-in-law accidentally fell and injured her muscles and bones. Because of her advanced age, the elderly woman recovered very slowly. Pouring tea and water, changing medicine and going for checkups, feeding meals and staying by the bedside... over the course of half a year, Liu Guixia persisted in caring for her mother-in-law without a single complaint. Under her meticulous care, the elderly woman has now fully recovered and moves about freely.

In June 2014, Liu Guixia was diagnosed with an adenoma of the tonsil. The doctor suggested she be hospitalized for treatment, but Liu Guixia could not set her mind at ease about her father-in-law and mother-in-law at home, so after only a few days she immediately went home.

Under Liu Guixia's influence, the children are all very filial as well. Even her 3-year-old little grandson knows to give the soft peaches to his great-grandfather and great-grandmother to eat.

"Filial piety is not just talk; you have to be worthy of your own conscience." For nearly 30 years, Liu Guixia has always held firmly to this belief, composing with her own practical actions a song of praise for family love.
