Though called a "village," it is actually an organization developed through a WeChat group and currently made up of more than 150 people. In just half a year, it has accumulated more than 70,000 yuan in loving donations, and its footprints of love have been left in the hearts of people in Laiyuan, Baoding, and Bijie, Guizhou.
??? During this Dragon Boat Festival holiday, this afternoon, braving the nearly 30°C heat, more than 40 members of their team brought coolness to 8 elderly people living alone in Tuanjie Village, Matou Town, Anci District, Langfang City, delivering items such as electric fans, cooling mats and radios to each household.
"Love Assistance Village" founders Liu Hailong and Wang Zhiyu introduced that the "organization" was established in November 2015. At that time, they were touched and inspired after taking part in an activity by a Beijing charity organization to help elderly people living alone in Laiyuan, Baoding. After discussing it together, everyone decided to establish the "Love Assistance Village." It was called this to be down-to-earth and easy to understand. "We originally had only 27 people, brought together by a heart of love. Our common trait is that we cannot bear to see poor and suffering people; when we see them, we shed tears, and when we see them, we want to reach out and help..."
Shi Yongfeng, one of the earliest love members, told reporters that for the convenience of organization and public accounting, and starting from being simple, easy to understand and easy to address, the "Love Assistance Village" set up positions such as "secretary, village chief, accountant, and standing committee." When there are activities, everyone divides the work reasonably and cooperates closely, and a complete set of rules and regulations has been established, making every cent come in clearly and every donation be spent transparently, so that everyone who gives love can feel reassured.
Every member of the "Love Assistance Village" is deeply marked by the most recent rescue. In late April, 3-year-old Li Qing, a little girl from Beimengyi Village, Longhuzhuang Township, Yongqing County, accidentally sat down in a pot of boiling water and was severely scalded! This accidental disaster devastated the whole family. One day in the hospital cost 20,000 yuan, and the hospital said follow-up treatment would still require 300,000 yuan, simply an astronomical figure! At the Beijing hospital, seeing the child's pain and the parents' worried faces, the uncles and aunts of the "Love Assistance Village" were extremely anxious and could not sit still. After returning, they immediately spread the word online and quickly launched a rescue donation effort. Soon, through the joint efforts of the family members of the "Love Assistance Village," 7,520 yuan in charitable funds was raised in two and a half days and sent to the patient's home, bringing the patient's family hope for treatment.
