Liu Shujun delivers deep love through every piece of clothing
By a chance encounter, she learned that impoverished households were troubled by the lack of "clothing." From then on, she collected old clothes from her own home and from relatives and friends, and gave them one after another to those impoverished households in need of clothing. She had only one wish - to add a piece of clothing full of love and warmth for impoverished households. She is Liu Shujun from Gongping Village, Qian'an Town, Qian'an City.
Because she usually has to stay home caring for her little grandson, Liu Shujun cannot leave the house, so she originally collected and gave away old clothes at home. Later, considering that it is not easy for some impoverished households to go out even once, she recently made special arrangements for her little grandson, borrowed a car from a friend, and made a special trip to deliver these sorted old clothes to the homes of impoverished households.
Liu Shujun said that the idea of collecting and donating old clothes came from a media report on the living conditions of impoverished children: "I saw on CCTV Channel 7 that poor children had no shoes to wear, and I could not sleep for several days. I felt that I should also do something for the impoverished households around me."
Liu Shujun is not without standards in collecting and donating clothing. Clothing without a known source is not accepted, clothing that has not been washed is not accepted, and damaged clothing is also not accepted. Every piece of clothing given away must be ensured to reach families that are truly impoverished and truly in need.
In addition to delivering old clothes door to door, Liu Shujun also went to Qilikan Village, Shangzhuang Township, and announced through the radio the matter of giving away old clothes for free, so that impoverished households in need of clothing could gather at the village committee to claim them.
To make it convenient for kind-hearted people to donate and for impoverished households to claim items, Liu Shujun deliberately posted a conspicuous sign at the gate of her home and also wrote down her phone number so that others could contact her. In addition, she set aside a special place at home to store these clothes. In her view, every piece of clothing collected and given away is a transmission of love.
"When you give someone a rose, the fragrance lingers on your hand." Liu Shujun, 52 years old this year, does not come from a wealthy family, but in her own way she silently helps the people around her who need help. One piece of clothing, one piece of true feeling, also conveys a share of love and warmth.
