Zhang Ye enthusiastically helps farmers, warming villagers' hearts with her support
In Zhengbazhuang Village, Xinjuntun Town, Fengrun District, Tangshan City, when 31-year-old Zhang Ye is mentioned, the villagers all give a thumbs-up and say: "Zhang Ye is a warm-hearted person who often does good deeds. She is a good person hard to find even with a lantern!"
Zhang Desheng and Lu Enhuan of Zhengbazhuang Village are an unfortunate elderly couple. Five years ago, their son and daughter-in-law both died in an accident, leaving behind a 10-year-old grandson. Zhang Desheng suffers from heart disease, and Lu Enhuan suffers from arthritis; neither can do heavy work. The elderly couple, despite their illnesses, are raising their young grandson Zhang Xin.
The difficult life of Zhang Desheng and Lu Enhuan has been witnessed by their neighbor Zhang Ye, who feels pain in her heart for them. Over the past 5 years, whenever Zhang Ye cooked a good meal with fish and meat, she would bring it to the elderly couple while it was still hot; during Chinese New Year, Zhang Ye not only delivered New Year goods to them but also left them 200-500 yuan. Zhang Ye dotes on Zhang Xin especially, buying shirts in summer and padded clothes in winter, so the child has clothes for each season.
On ordinary days, whenever she sees the elderly couple working, Zhang Ye would go over to help. One afternoon in the autumn of last year, after finishing farm work in the fields and returning home, Zhang Ye saw the elderly couple threshing corn in the yard, and despite her exhaustion she went to help, working until dark. In December 2015, Zhang Desheng was hospitalized for surgery due to gallstones, and Lu Enhuan, alone at home, accidentally sprained her foot and could not cook. "Auntie, rest and recover well, I will cook for you." Zhang Ye kept her word, delivering meals to the elderly woman every day and varying the dishes, continuing for more than ten days until Zhang Desheng recovered and was discharged from the hospital.
"Zhang Ye is so good to us, I don't even know how to thank her," said 78-year-old Lu Enhuan, tears welling up in her eyes when mentioning Zhang Ye.
Zhang Ye was born in Zhuangerkou Village, Fengdengwu Town, and married into Zhengbazhuang Village in 2005. She has been kind-hearted and loved helping others since childhood. One noon in October 2015, Zhang Ye passed by the home of the solitary elderly man Gao Shan and found a large amount of thick smoke coming from the house, choking the elderly man who was cooking and making him cough. Zhang Ye went in to look and said: "Uncle, the kang is backdrafting smoke, it needs to be rebuilt." The elderly man said with difficulty: "I don't have money to hire someone." Zhang Ye said readily: "I'll take care of this." Soon, Zhang Ye hired a kang builder, who rebuilt the kang for Gao Shan and also installed heating radiators. This time, Zhang Ye spent more than 900 yuan.
Villagers say that Zhang Ye has done countless good deeds. Old Mrs. Zhang at the west end of the village lives alone; on ordinary days Zhang Ye would bring the elderly woman some pastries, fruit, and sunflower seeds, and during Chinese New Year also delivered 500 yuan; when the little boy Cao Jiawang needed money for medical treatment, Zhang Ye gave 550 yuan; whenever anyone in the village needs a vehicle, Zhang Ye never refuses and drives her own car to help.
"Seeing others in difficulty makes my heart ache, and I just want to help them," Zhang Ye said. As long as she has the ability, she will continue to help others.
