Chen Lijuan never forgets her fellow villagers after finding wealth, driving her neighbors to increase their income together
Recently, at the cultural square of Tunli Village, Beinian Township, Li County, a group of middle-aged and elderly people and children were enjoying their leisure time exercising, while the older women, dressed in splendid dance costumes, were happily dancing square dances. One woman said: "The square is livelier than before. Now I come here to exercise whenever I have time every day. With such complete facilities at the square, we have to praise our village's Chen Lijuan."
Chen Lijuan is a businesswoman in the electronics industry, and she never forgets her fellow villagers after finding wealth. In 2013, the village built a cultural square, but after it was completed, there was no money to buy fitness equipment. When Chen Lijuan learned of this, she took the initiative to donate 16 sets of fitness equipment to the village. When purchasing the fitness equipment, Chen Lijuan personally tried out each item, checked the manufacturer and qualification labels to ensure that every item could be used safely, and took into account the needs of villagers of all ages, striving to let men, women, the elderly and children in the village all find fitness and entertainment facilities at the square that suited them. She also voluntarily funded the installation of streetlights around the square. The women in the village were enthusiastic about square dancing, but had no sound system or uniforms, so she again funded the purchase of sound equipment and dance costumes, which greatly stimulated the villagers' enthusiasm for dancing and fitness. In the evening, the village square is brightly lit, and people exercising and relaxing and children playing gather here, giving everyone a better place for activities.
Many young people in Tunli Village work elsewhere, and some cannot return home all year round, leaving behind many left-behind and solitary elderly people. In order to let the elderly people in the village have a happy and peaceful Spring Festival, on the eve of the 2015 Spring Festival, Chen Lijuan delivered rice, fresh fish and other items to villagers over 80 years old, and also delivered consolation money to elderly people whose families were in difficulty. Before the 2016 Spring Festival, Beinian Township, responding to the county party committee's call, carried out the "Warm Winter" poverty alleviation and assistance campaign, issuing an initiative to entrepreneurs and successful businesspeople in its jurisdiction to "repay society and repay the hometown." Chen Lijuan actively joined this righteous act of helping those in danger and relieving those in distress. By contacting the township government, she compiled a list of solitary elderly people over 60 years old and elderly people over 80 years old in Tunli and the surrounding four villages of Huayuantou, Zhangqi and Jiazhuang, totaling 136 households. With the assistance of village and township officials, Chen Lijuan distributed condolence goods such as rice and fish worth 20,000 yuan to each elderly person, conveying care for her fellow villagers.
Chen Lijuan's deeds of never forgetting her fellow villagers after finding wealth have won praise from the villagers. She said that in the future she will continue the "Warm Winter" campaign before the Spring Festival, and will also expand the targets and scope of assistance, striving to make more contributions to the public welfare undertakings of her hometown.
