Danjiang Colorful Peacock Valley: Eco-tourism Helps Local People Get Rich
Just after the Start of Spring, Danjiang Colorful Peacock Valley in Shangji Town is already filled with birdsong and flowers, brimming with spring, with an endless stream of visitors and a lively bustle. The peacocks vie in splendor, forming a beautiful sight, and many self-driving tourists come to watch the peacocks fan their tails and experience authentic rural life.
The peacock is known as the queen of birds and is a symbol of auspiciousness, kindness, beauty and nobility; their upright crests, gorgeous plumage and graceful postures are quite eye-catching. In Colorful Peacock Valley in Shangji Town, visitors can come into close contact with more than 6,000 peacocks.
Lu Zhibo, the founder of Colorful Peacock Valley, was born into an ordinary farming family in Xichuan County. By a chance opportunity, drawing on mature peacock breeding technology, he invested in building a peacock breeding base, putting up new-style peacock houses, an electric peacock hatchery and a peacock animal specimen exhibition room. He also changed the pure breeding business model, organically combining it with eco-tourism and taking the path of eco-agricultural development. Using limited land, he combined peacock breeding with soft-seed pomegranate cultivation to form a circular chain, planted various fruit trees and flowers, and launched projects such as eco-sightseeing tourism and agricultural picking, helping more than 30 nearby farming households increase their incomes and become prosperous.
Today, the Colorful Peacock Valley founded by Lu Zhibo has introduced many varieties including blue peacocks, white peacocks and pied peacocks, and has become the largest peacock breeding and raising base in the local area.
Just after the Spring Festival, Lu Zhibo has new plans: a new project with an investment of more than 500,000 yuan, the widening and hardening of the mountain road has been completed, and the peacock viewing platform is under construction. He also plans to rent several hundred mu of barren hills near the base to expand the scale and build a characteristic industrialized demonstration park integrating tourism and sightseeing, peacock viewing, fruit picking, peacock food processing and dining.
