"When raising pigs in winter, you should appropriately increase the stocking density, because when the stocking density is high, the floor space per pig shrinks, and they can keep each other warm while lying down."

"When raising pigs in winter, you should moderately increase the proportion of energy in the feed. Generally speaking, it should be a bit lower for adult pigs and a bit higher for piglets."

On February 19, at the pig farm of Chongqing Meijianda Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., Wang Guanjun was voluntarily explaining pig-raising techniques to farmers around the company.

Wang Guanjun joined the army at 18, and after being discharged he went to work elsewhere. In 2012, he gave up a high salary and returned to his hometown, where he established a standardized pig farm in Sujia Village, Bashan Town, with 500 sows in stock and 10,000 commercial pigs marketed annually.

When it comes to pig-raising techniques, Wang Guanjun has always taught others without reservation. In just 4 years, he led more than 200 households in Sujia Village and surrounding villages to prosperity together.

Giving up a high salary to return home and start a business

In 2004, after being discharged from the military, Wang Guanjun went to work in Guangdong, Zhejiang and other places.

During the 8 years of striving away from home, relying on diligence and wisdom, Wang Guanjun rose from the lowest level to a senior executive, successively serving as provincial manager of Guangdong Chuangsheng Stainless Steel Products Company and Zhejiang ASD Electrical Appliance Co., Ltd.

In 2012, during the rising phase of his career, Wang Guanjun actively responded to the county government's call for returning home to start businesses, resolutely gave up an annual salary of more than 200,000 yuan and the comfortable living environment of a big city, chose to return home to start a business, and became a "pig farmer."

"Both my grandfather and father worked in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. Influenced from childhood, I learned a lot of livestock techniques and had some experience in pig farming," Wang Guanjun said. Returning home to start a business was something he had thought over carefully. He raised more than 20 million yuan on his own and established a standardized pig farm covering more than 500 mu.

"No matter where you are, as long as you stay true to your heart, life will be wonderful," Wang Guanjun said. Being able to contribute to his hometown's development and change its current situation had always been his dream, and was also the main reason he chose to return home to start a business.

Innovative development brings wonderful results

After returning home to start his business, Wang Guanjun made improving pig quality the first goal of the company's development, and decided to carry out brand-based operations.

"The quality of pigs affects the health of countless households, and there can be no carelessness at all," Wang Guanjun said.

In order to raise pigs well, Wang Guanjun participated in technical training many times and visited some large domestic pig-raising enterprises to inspect and learn advanced concepts of pig breeding.

In order to make the company's development more dynamic, Wang Guanjun changed the traditional extensive pig-raising method, adopted the way of thinking of factory production, and with the concepts of modernized, large-scale, digital and refined management, attached importance to data collection and analysis, and hired professional technicians to "escort" pig breeding.

Through several years of development, the pig breeding company founded by Wang Guanjun became a municipal-level leading enterprise in Chongqing's agricultural industrialization, and the "Meijianda pigs" it raised were certified as pollution-free agricultural products.

Driving villagers to prosperity together

Relying on modern scientific and technological means and refined management, the pigs raised by Wang Guanjun are deeply favored by the market, which also greatly boosted the enthusiasm of villagers around the company for the pig-raising industry.

While continuously expanding the scale of the pig farm, Wang Guanjun actively played a typical exemplary role, teaching pig-raising techniques and epidemic prevention knowledge to fellow villagers without reservation, and helping surrounding farmers take the path of scientific and green breeding.

Wang Tianyao, a villager from Miaoyakou Village, is 45 years old this year. Starting in 2012, he invested more than 300,000 yuan successively to develop rabbit farming. Because his techniques were not up to standard and epidemic prevention could not keep up, the farm kept losing money, which dealt him a considerable blow.

After learning about Wang Tianyao's situation, Wang Guanjun, drawing on his own experience, immediately provided him with psychological counseling.

On Wang Guanjun's suggestion, Wang Tianyao bought more than 200 high-quality pigs to raise. In addition to giving Wang Tianyao advice, Wang Guanjun also provided him with free technical guidance throughout the process.

"Wang Guanjun is a very good person. When we ask him about pig-raising knowledge, he always explains it to us patiently," Wang Tianyao said. With Wang Guanjun's help, last year he earned more than 100,000 yuan from selling pigs.

In addition to voluntarily explaining pig-raising techniques to villagers, Wang Guanjun also transferred 500 mu of land in Sujia Village to build an ecological leisure agricultural sightseeing park, develop circular agriculture, and provide employment for more than 50 people in the village.

In just a few years, driven by Wang Guanjun, more than 200 households in Sujia Village and surrounding villages embarked on the road to prosperity.

"Being rich alone does not count as being rich; only when everyone is rich does it count as being rich." Wang Guanjun said this sentence was his original intention in returning home to start a business, and he will keep walking this road of leading fellow villagers to prosperity together.
