Along with the vibrant energy of spring, strawberries, the "favorite" of the fruit market, are coming onto the market in large quantities. And Chen Yan, a grower from Group 2 of Wangtianhe Village, Haokou Town, has taken the road to prosperity by growing these mouth-watering strawberries.

On March 2, bathed in the warm spring sunshine, the reporter arrived at Chen Yan's strawberry greenhouse base. As soon as we entered the greenhouse, a fresh, sweet fragrance greeted us and delighted the senses, and the bright red strawberries were truly adorable. "This is the peak sales season. My husband took dozens of jin of strawberries to town to sell this morning." Chen Yan said while picking strawberries. Every day some customers come to the greenhouse to pick strawberries, and business is pretty good.

During the interview, Chen Yan told the reporter that five years ago the couple mainly grew crops such as cotton and rice. After seeing that the strawberry market in Shashi had good returns, she discussed with her husband Xu Nianjun trying to grow them. "No one in the village had ever grown strawberries, and everyone was not very optimistic about it, but once we two decided, no matter how hard or tiring it was, we would keep going!" Chen Yan said.

Learning techniques, building greenhouses... Chen Yan and her husband devoted themselves wholeheartedly to strawberry cultivation, farming carefully and tending the plants with great care. It was precisely because of this persistence and their fearlessness of hard work that they walked step by step onto the road to prosperity. "Our strawberries are large, brightly colored and taste quite good. We have 5 varieties, including 'Fengxiang', 'Falandi' and 'Jinyao'. The strawberries can be sold continuously from last December until this May, and they can sell for as much as 30 yuan per jin." Chen Yan said.

"These 4 mu of land bring in a net income of about 50,000 yuan each year. Next, I plan to expand into growing muskmelons, so that both the farmland and our lives can reach a new level." As she spoke, Chen Yan's face was filled with the joy of harvest.
