Yang Dezhi: The Road to Prosperity of the "Wild Boar King"

Yang Dezhi is a farmer Party member from Queniao Village, Fangxiang Township, Leishan County. After graduating from junior high school, he went to other provinces to work and learn skills. With the mountain people's spirit of hard work, endurance, and resolute courage, he forged a road to prosperity as a "leading goose." Under difficult conditions, he established the Qixin Special Breed Pig Breeding Base with an annual output value exceeding 1 million, and led 66 households with 230 people in the village to raise wild boars and black-haired pigs, finding a path to prosperity for the villagers.

Planning in the Heart, Transformed Through Learning - "Mountain and City, Year After Year"

"I remember that year our family raised four black-haired pigs, but unexpectedly they were infected with swine pneumonic pasteurellosis. The family's only source of income was cut off, and a whole year of effort was wasted." Speaking of his experience from working as a migrant laborer to starting a business as a boss, Yang Dezhi was filled with emotion. "Traveling north and south, learning skills and seeking to start a business, no one can know the bitterness and hardship along the way."

Years of accumulation filled Yang Dezhi with confidence about returning home to start a business. Soon, he built a production base of more than 10 mu in his hometown. "When I returned home to build the production base, the first thing was to solve the problem of feed materials. Another important reason was that funds were limited, so I had to proceed steadily step by step," Yang Dezhi recalled. After the production base got on track, he went out again to several provinces and cities to learn wild boar breeding techniques and study market development. In his heart, he had long been calculating the economic account and entrepreneurial account of wild boar breeding. "The market price of wild boars is high. Although the breeding cycle and technical requirements are slightly longer and higher, in terms of the input-to-output ratio, the economic benefits are still much higher than raising ordinary pigs."

Diligent in Toil, Immersed in Action - "How Many Days and Nights Burning the Midnight Oil and Sweating"

When he began his return-home business in 2011, Yang Dezhi and his brother-in-law Shen Zuoxin invested a total of 300,000 yuan to build a wild boar breeding farm in Queniao Village. From the initial 38 wild boars to the current annual output of 600 wild boars and more than 300 black-haired pigs, the pen area is 1,200 sq m, including a 150 sq m insulated farrowing room, a 100 sq m feed storage room, and more than 120 mu of free-range base. Looking at the growing industry, Yang Dezhi said: "Only with the sweat on our cheeks and the hard work of countless days and nights could we achieve today's results."

"Diligence is a wellspring; thrift is a treasure bowl." Despite having such a large business, he still eats and lives in the simple bungalow at the base. During the day he cares for the piglets, and at night he wires lights and builds pig pens and fences, full of energy, summing up as he works.

Small Wisdom, Bringing Prosperity - "Working Together for Long-Term Development"

The entrepreneurial spirit of diligence, simplicity, and solid hard work finally turned into wealth, and Yang Dezhi became a veritable "Wild Boar King." Now wealthy, he did not forget the support of the Party and the government, and began thinking of leading the villagers to prosperity. "If the villagers want to get rich, they must work together in groups. Only in this way can they go further on the road to prosperity." Yang Dezhi set his mind on the cooperative economy. "A family may have ten thousand strings of cash, but animals with hair are not counted." The pig-raising industry requires large investment and carries great risk. Many farming households want to do it but dare not, and some want to do it but lack funds. To dispel the villagers' worries, Yang Dezhi took the lead in establishing the Xinke Wild Boar Forest Special Breeding Professional Cooperative and the Qixin Comprehensive Breeding Professional Cooperative, organizing farming households together, distributing piglets free of charge to members, providing technology, and purchasing at market prices. He also often went to farmers' homes to provide breeding guidance and taught pig disease prevention and control techniques hand by hand. This gave the farmers a "reassurance pill" and greatly increased the enthusiasm of Queniao Village residents for breeding and their confidence in escaping poverty and achieving prosperity. Since the establishment of the cooperatives, 66 farming households have been mobilized, with 230 participating members. In 2015, Queniao Village produced more than 1,200 black-haired pigs and more than 600 wild boars, achieving an output value of 3.4 million yuan, with an average household income increase of 5,800 yuan.
