Fan Jialiang: The Wealth-Building Guide in the Cattle Shed

On February 16, villager Fan Jialiang of Dougouhe Village, Yuanchong Township, Laohekou City was beaming with joy, as another batch of adult cattle was about to go on the market for sale, achieving a "good start" in income.

Fan Jialiang, 40 years old this year, is considered somewhat well-known in Dougouhe Village. He ran a floor slab factory at home for 9 years, contributing to the construction of houses for his fellow villagers. When he felt the floor slab business was becoming difficult, he immediately transformed his development and boldly started a business, beginning to raise beef cattle in 2013. In just four years, he started with a dozen or so cattle and has now grown to a herd of 110 beef cattle on hand.

When he first started raising cattle, Fan Jialiang was a layman, and when the cattle got sick he could only ask a veterinarian for help. With the help of the city's Animal Husbandry Bureau, he went out to learn cattle-raising knowledge, exchanged cattle-raising experience with peers, and explored new cattle-raising methods at home.

There is no smooth-sailing entrepreneurial path, and Fan Jialiang was no exception. When the cattle were sick and could not be cured, he got sulky; when he stayed up late at night observing the cattle's physical condition and was kicked by a cow, he grumbled... Fan Jialiang once had thoughts of giving up cattle farming many times, and whenever this happened, his wife Wang Taohua encouraged him. "Thanks to my wife's support and encouragement, I was able to persist in cattle farming to the end," Fan Jialiang said.

Talking about the future, Fan Jialiang said with full confidence that Yuanchong Township is a good place, with a climate suitable for raising cattle, a large corn planting area, and corn stalks being good feed for cattle. "I plan to strive to raise 1,000 cattle per year within three to five years, which can not only make myself rich but also turn corn stalks from waste into treasure, increasing income for the villagers."
