Dongxiang's Big Poultry Farmer Personally Shares His Experience of Getting Rich
From venturing out to seek his fortune to returning home to start a business, from a poor young man to earning several hundred thousand yuan a year, from working alone to leading his fellow villagers to get rich together, a specialized poultry farmer has emerged from the mountains of Dongxiang in Linxia Prefecture. He is Qi Guolong of Qiaowen Village, Suonan Town, Dongxiang County.
Qi Guolong, who had only an elementary school education, left the mountains of Dongxiang at the age of 19 to start his own business. He began raising chickens in 2008, lifted himself out of poverty and achieved prosperity, and also led his fellow villagers to get rich together.
But the road to entrepreneurship was not all smooth sailing. In 2008, Qi Guolong returned to his hometown and took the first step of his entrepreneurial journey. He raised 100,000 yuan from various sources, built a chicken farm on a patch of hillside, and began his path of entrepreneurship. He first tried introducing 1,100 chickens. Through experimentation and constant exploration, plus his own continuous learning, he made a net profit of more than 30,000 yuan that year. His eggs and meat chickens were sold in Linxia, Lanzhou and other places, were deeply welcomed by local people, and at one point demand outstripped supply.
Qi Guolong devoted himself wholeheartedly to the poultry business, working from dawn to dusk and pouring all his energy into raising chickens. Hard work pays off. In 2014, Qi Guolong registered and established Yiqing Ecological Breeding Co., Ltd. He personally invested more than 3 million yuan over time to introduce automated poultry-raising equipment, achieving automated management of the chicken farm. He personally raised 20,000 chickens, and attracted 15 farming households to take up poultry raising, with the number of chickens reaching 120,000. An average of 30,000 eggs were sold each day, and the company annually marketed an average of 260,000 raised meat chickens, sold 1 million eggs and 2,000 cubic meters of chicken manure, with an annual income of 2.2 million yuan and each farming household earning about 130,000 yuan a year. Relying on poultry farming, Qi Guolong not only lifted himself out of poverty and became prosperous, but also gave a boost to the people around him, setting some of them on the path to prosperity through poultry farming.
Walking into Qi Guolong's chicken farm, the steel-framed chicken houses are spacious and bright, and feeding and management all use modern scientific automated temperature control, automated feeding, automated watering, automated manure cleaning and other five-automation operations. Feeders and waterers for the chickens are fully equipped, making feeding very convenient. Not only can feeding and watering the chickens be done with "one touch," even cleaning up the chicken manure is fully automated, truly saving both time and effort.
Faced with Qi Guolong's success, his fellow villagers came one after another to learn from him, and he taught everyone his farming techniques without reservation. In order to encourage more people to take up farming, he also promised to help everyone with unified sales. For a time, a poultry-raising boom sprang up in Qiaowen Village. By the end of 2010, 5 households in Qi Guolong's village took the initiative to approach him, wanting to raise chickens together with him, and Qi Guolong agreed without a second thought. Under his guidance, these 5 households built chicken farms one after another, introduced fine-quality chicks through his channels, and set out on the path to prosperity. After several years of development, they not only lifted themselves out of poverty but also became local leaders in getting rich. Qi Yageibu used to go out to do odd jobs, and after a whole year he had not earned much money. One day in July 2012, he approached Qi Guolong with a let's-give-it-a-try attitude and joined the ranks of poultry farmers. During the farming process, Qi Guolong guided him the whole way, provided fine-quality chicks, and gave guidance on sales and farming techniques. Now Qi Yageibu makes a net profit of 60,000 to 70,000 yuan a year, and his life is comfortable and satisfying. He tells everyone he meets, "It is only with Qi Guolong's help that I have today's results. One person leads another, one person helps another. That I can be where I am now is thanks to Qi Guolong's great help."
"With such good support policies and the strong support of leaders at all levels, I firmly believe that raising chickens is a very good channel for getting rich, letting more people ride farming to a moderately prosperous life!" Qi Guolong said with full confidence.
