Shen Huaping of Chixi Village, Fuding City, Fujian Province, "China's first poverty-alleviation village", resolutely brought back more than 1,000,000 yuan that he had saved over more than a decade of working elsewhere to develop agricultural production in his hometown and lead the villagers to prosperity together. Driven by him, the village established an agricultural cooperative focused mainly on developing edible fungi and under-forest economy, and it currently has more than 100 member households. Since the beginning of this year, the output value of shiitake mushroom cultivation alone has reached more than 800,000 yuan, opening up a new path for local farmers to escape poverty and become prosperous.
