"Little mushrooms" grow a path for farmers to increase income and become wealthy

On the morning of April 18, in Agricultural Team 7 of Aheqi Farm in Jinghe County, the warm spring sunshine shone on rows of mushroom greenhouses in the fields. Liu Xiaoyan, busy working in a greenhouse, still had thick mud on her shoes. She wiped the sweat from her head and gently stroked the mushrooms on the substrate bags, saying: "Don't underestimate my four greenhouses. They can bring in tens of thousands of yuan a year. Little mushrooms have now become a big industry for our family to get rich! This year's market is much better than in previous years. Right now is a good season for mushrooms to grow. Almost every greenhouse has a total output of about 5,000 to 6,000 kg. This morning we have already picked more than 200 kg. I received several calls from supermarkets urging delivery this morning, and now I am busy loading goods to send them over!" 45-year-old Liu Xiaoyan happily told Han Donghui, First Secretary of the Party branch stationed in Agricultural Team 7 of Aheqi Farm by the Jinghe County Agriculture and Water Resources Bureau, who had come to visit.

First Secretary Han Donghui introduced that Liu Xiaoyan's family had once been a poor household. The family had many people, the children were still young, and the family had only more than ten mu of cultivated land. Since she began growing mushrooms in 2008, she used agricultural waste such as cottonseed hulls, lime, and oil residue as cultivation substrate and cultivated 30,000 oyster mushrooms. After 9 years of mushroom cultivation, she also learned a lot of experience. Last year, the 2 greenhouses of mushrooms she planted earned a net profit of more than 100,000 yuan, mainly sold wholesale and retail to Bole, Bajiahu, Shashanzi, and Daheyanzi. This year she planted 3 greenhouses and also plans to experiment with growing one greenhouse of wood ear mushrooms.

It is understood that at Aheqi Farm, Liu Xiaoyan was the earliest to start growing mushrooms and also the one who persisted the longest, counting it up to more than 9 years. With her own unique vision, in Agricultural Team 7, where cotton cultivation is traditional, Liu Xiaoyan relied on mushroom cultivation to walk out a path to wealth of her own. After becoming wealthy, she never forgot her neighbors, taught them carefully, and held nothing back. She used the techniques she learned to drive the poor villagers around her by providing technical guidance, so that every villager could live a happy and beautiful life!
