Mushroom Picking Keeps Farmers Busy in Minquan, Henan: Growers Sing a Harvest Song

On May 4, 2017, villagers of Peizhai Village, Baiyunsi Town, Minquan County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, picked ripe mushrooms under the trees.

Shao Yunquan, a 28-year-old young man from Baiyunsi Town, Minquan County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, learned and mastered mushroom cultivation techniques in Fujian, then returned home to start a business. He founded the Yalong Edible Fungi Cultivation Cooperative, rented 400 mu of forest land, and invested more than 1 million yuan to grow Stropharia rugosoannulata, achieving success with an annual benefit of more than 6 million yuan. At present, the cooperative has recruited 150 members and provided employment for 230 poor households, becoming a good project that drives nearby residents to escape poverty and become wealthy.
