How much is a jin of perfume lemon? A detailed explanation of planting benefits and effects
On the morning of April 30, the sun was bright and birds were singing amid fragrant flowers. Walking into the four-season perfume lemon planting demonstration base of Fushen Family Farm in Qiaobei Village, Rongzhou Town, Rong County, Yulin City, Guangxi, one could see at a glance rows of lush green lemon trees covered with lemon fruits the size of a fist, and the pale yellow lemon peels gave off an inviting fragrance. The farm owner is Zhang Jiashen, a farmer from the county who is nearly 40 years old. Because his trial planting of perfume lemon achieved great success, he became a local model of growing perfume lemon to help escape poverty and become rich.
Zhang Jiashen is from Renyong Village, Lingshan Town, Rong County, and had worked in Guangdong for more than 20 years. One day in 2014, while drinking tea with his landlord, who ran a fruit shop, he noticed that someone sent the landlord 3 boxes of fruit, 25 kg per box, and actually collected 900 yuan. "What kind of fruit is this, so expensive?" The landlord told him, "This is called perfume lemon, grown in Hainan." Zhang Jiashen immediately had the idea of returning to Rong County to lease farmland and grow perfume lemon. A few days later, he quit his job and went to Hainan to learn perfume lemon planting techniques.
In April 2015, Zhang Jiashen returned to his hometown and founded Fushen Family Farm. He successively invested more than 400,000 yuan, brought back more than 5,000 seedlings from Hainan, and leased land in Qiaobei Village near the county seat at a rent of 1,000 yuan per mu per year, building a perfume lemon planting demonstration base and seedling cultivation base with an area of nearly more than 60 mu. Thanks to scientific management and care, the perfume lemon planting base began bearing fruit in early last year, with a total annual output of more than 10,000 kg of fresh fruit and income of more than 100,000 yuan. In addition, with the sale of more than 9,000 seedlings, total income reached 170,000 yuan. From January to April this year, 15,000 kg of fresh fruit was harvested, and more than 10,000 seedlings were sold, for a total income of 220,000 yuan.
"This year's total output is estimated at more than 50,000 kg, and the income from fresh fruit alone will exceed 400,000 yuan. As the trees continue to grow larger, the yield will be even higher." Zhang Jiashen said, "Because this lemon tree blooms and bears fruit all year round, has large seedless fruit, is juicy with thin peel, and has a rich perfume fragrance, and completely lacks the bitter taste of ordinary lemons, everyone calls it 'four-season perfume lemon.'"
It is understood that because perfume lemon has effects such as beautifying the skin, aiding weight loss, lowering blood pressure, detoxifying and nourishing the skin, softening blood vessels, and nourishing and protecting the liver, it has become a hot-selling fruit in many supermarkets, restaurants, and milk tea shops, and its price is also four to five times more expensive than ordinary lemons. At present, the wholesale price of fresh lemons produced at the base is about 10 yuan per kg. In addition to supplying the local market, they are also sold far to Guangdong, Zhejiang, and other places.
In order to meet demand and lead surrounding farmers to grow perfume lemon and get on the road to prosperity as soon as possible, Zhang Jiashen's seedling base has cultivated hundreds of thousands of high-quality perfume lemon saplings and supplies them to local farmers at a relatively low price. For poor households, only part of the seedling cost is charged, and comprehensive services are provided in management and care techniques, market information, and guaranteed-price fruit purchasing. Most of the 15 people who manage the fruit trees and harvest fruit at the base are local poor households or households receiving the five guarantees, with a monthly wage of more than 2,000 yuan. At present, farmers near and around the base have planted more than 500 mu of perfume lemon, of which 250 mu are already full of fruit and bring considerable income, making it a money tree for local farmers to escape poverty and become rich.
