Greenhouse cultivation yields fruit of prosperity, boosting farmers' incomes

Right now, it is once again the season for greenhouse peaches to ripen. Recently, this writer came to Wentian Village in Huzhuang Town and stepped into Wang Guiying's nectarine greenhouse. On entering, one could see red, large nectarines bending the branches low. Wang Guiying was also in the greenhouse, selecting nectarines together with the buyers. Although she was so busy that her head was covered in sweat, a joyful smile stayed on her face the whole time.

"The nectarines in my home this year are bigger than last year's. The large nectarines weigh about seven liang each, and the small ones are three to four liang. The average weight of each nectarine is probably half a jin." While speaking, Wang Guiying skillfully picked a large nectarine. "This year, not only is my family's nectarine output higher than last year's, the purchase price is also a bit higher than last year's. For nectarines of about half a jin like these, the buyer gives me 8 yuan per jin. I have already sold several rounds, and I estimate that after one more round, the nectarines in this greenhouse will basically be sold out. Look, the nectarine output from this one greenhouse of mine can reach 7,000 jin this year, selling for more than 50,000 yuan, much better than going out to work."

Brother Zhang, a nectarine buyer from Haicheng, was busy selecting peaches, packing boxes, weighing, and loading the truck. He said, "I have come to Wentian Village to buy nectarines for three years in a row. The nectarines here get better in quality every year, with bright color and good taste, and they sell especially well after I bring them back."

According to Yu Xinghai, Party branch secretary of Wentian Village, the Fuzhiyuan Fruit Professional Cooperative of Wentian Village was established in June 2013. Since its establishment, with increasing farmers' income as the core, the cooperative has continuously explored a path of distinctive and large-scale agricultural industrialization development. At present, Wentian Village has more than 200 nectarine greenhouses in total, and this year's total output is expected to reach 1.4 million jin, with sales expected to reach more than 6 million yuan.
