In the early 1980s, people began to have a preliminary understanding of edible fungus foods. In 1985, Miao Yinde graduated from high school. By chance he came into contact with the edible fungus industry and used his own house, converting it into an edible fungus cultivation room. In the first year, he successfully cultivated more than 2,000 jin of oyster mushrooms.

Afterward, he followed edible fungus experts into the edible fungus breeding industry for further study, thereby laying a solid foundation for his leading development and promotion demonstration in the edible fungus industry. From edible fungus breeding, cultivation and sales, Miao Yinde took only three years. Starting from one insulated breeding house, after 30 years of hard entrepreneurship, Miao Yinde accumulated rich practical experience. Miao Yinde did not forget his fellow villagers after getting rich. He taught techniques to farmers free of charge and voluntarily guided mushroom production. Over several years, he held more than 60 free training sessions, with 3,000 person-times receiving training. At the same time, when mushroom growers encountered technical problems in production, he actively answered them and responded to every request. He actively used activities such as Science Popularization Day, Science and Technology Week, and Science Popularization Winter to distribute 20,000 copies of technical materials free of charge each year. He also used telephones, mobile phones and other communication tools to answer ordinary questions immediately, and after consulting experts and professors, replied to difficult questions. For townships and villages that formed a planting scale, he conducted on-site guidance and centralized tutoring, teaching mushroom growers practical planting techniques. Through such methods and uninterrupted science and technology training, he trained 600 technical leaders, who then spread to 4 provinces, 13 regions, 25 counties and 301 villages. In 2015 alone, more than 2,000 farming households in his county mastered edible fungus cultivation techniques, and 90% of households escaped poverty and became rich by growing mushrooms.

Persisting in Demonstration-Driven Development to Enhance Radiation Capacity

Miao Yinde persisted in taking the path of experimentation, demonstration and promotion, combining scientific and technological innovation, standardized production and new variety development. By the end of 2016, the demonstration area reached 130 mu, and the driven area reached 3,600 mu. In order to achieve breakthroughs in edible fungus technology, Miao Yinde actively participated in edible fungus technology seminars, learned advanced experience from other places, and continuously improved his own operational level.
