Ecological Farming Opens a Path to Prosperity for Shan Yu

Shan Yu, a resident of Antu County, gave up city life after graduating from university and returned to his hometown to build a laying hen farm, helping fellow villagers prosper.

Walking into the specialty chicken breeding base of Antu County Huicai Ecological Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd., rows of ecological eggs are being transported by fully automatic breeding equipment to the front of the chicken cages, waiting for workers to box and ship them. Feeding, watering and manure cleaning are all completed automatically by the equipment. Shan Yu, general manager of the company, said while inspecting the quality of the eggs that returning home to start a business has always been his dream.

Based on the current market environment, I wanted to raise ecological, environmentally friendly laying hens. Producing good eggs will be more attractive to the future market and to ordinary people, so that's why I came back to take up this laying hen farming project:

In 2006, after graduating from university, Shan Yu returned to his hometown to start a business. Through consulting materials, market surveys and on-site inspections, in March of that year he established a specialty chicken breeding base integrating maggot breeding, feed processing, laying hen farming, and processing and sales. Because Shan Yu was not familiar with breeding techniques, he took many detours.

I originally studied computer science, and later went into chicken farming. At the beginning I encountered many difficulties. When I first started raising chickens, I didn't feed them anything special, just fed corn and soybean cake directly to the chickens. Egg production fluctuated, the egg quality was poor, and the chickens died, and so on. Later, through a series of studies, I solved all these problems.

Through continuous exploration and effort, the specialty, high-quality, healthy and ecological eggs carefully cultivated by Shan Yu won praise from professionals and consumers. In 2011, Shan Yu established Antu County Huicai Ecological Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd. Having prospered, he did not forget his fellow villagers. Shan Yu said he also plans to use the farm's manure to build an organic fertilizer production base, an organic vegetable planting base and a test field for an organic rice planting base, develop a series of ecological products, and realize "company + farmers" joint development, so that farmers have more paths to prosperity to choose from and can escape poverty and achieve moderate prosperity as soon as possible.

From 2016 to the past half year or so of this year, this village has completed the process of applying organic fertilizer to 30 hectares, but this process still needs 1 to 2 years, because chemical fertilizers were used before. We are striving to have the miscellaneous grains produced organically certified in 2018, and striving to build this village's brand so that the villagers and the farm can develop together.
