Post-80s girl Pan Ping carves out a new world in ecological agriculture
She worked at Foxconn, studied at Zhengzhou University, and passed the national psychological counselor exam, but her current identity is "boss." She is Pan Ping, general manager of Henan Shiwang Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. and chairwoman of the Guangshan County Shiwang Ecological Agriculture Professional Cooperative.
Born in 1985, Pan Ping is a typical "post-80s" girl: individualistic, full of ideas, and daring to venture and fight.
In 2005, after poor results in the college entrance examination, Pan Ping gave up the chance to continue her studies or retake the exam and decided to work at the Foxconn factory in Shenzhen. She stayed for a year and a half and was even promoted to a grassroots management position at the company.
"After reaching a management position, I realized my knowledge was no longer enough." In 2007, Pan Ping, long removed from campus, decided to take the college entrance examination again and enter university for further study. Bold in thought and action, Pan Ping was admitted to Zhengzhou University as she wished, majoring in Chinese and minoring in psychology.
While preparing for the postgraduate entrance examination, she fell seriously ill and failed to get into the school she had set her heart on. Just then, the land transferred by her father was left without anyone to manage it. "Why not develop ecological agriculture?" Pan Ping crossed boundaries once again, gave up her academic dream, and set out to "make a go of it in the vast world of the countryside."
Based on the soil and water conditions of Guangshan County, she chose to grow grapes, mulberries and the like, adopting a sightseeing agriculture model of leisure picking to increase the added value of traditional planting. Then she further processed grapes and mulberries, brewing fruit wine and extending the agricultural industry chain. In June 2016, with the help of the "planting - sightseeing picking - deep processing" project for grapes and mulberries, Henan Shiwang Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. was successfully listed on the SME equity quotation system of the Shanghai Equity Exchange.
"To me, the meaning of life is absolutely not money, fame, or status, but the realization of personal value and life ideals." Although she is in the startup stage and she and her business are struggling, Pan Ping has never ignored her social responsibility: she has long sponsored impoverished children, providing them with living expenses every month; she has helped 175 poor households out of poverty and toward prosperity; she regularly holds farmer field schools and distributes saplings and fruit seedlings free of charge to poor households impoverished by illness...
Because of her notable achievements in poverty alleviation, in 2016 Pan Ping's company was recognized by the All-China Women's Federation as a "National Women's Poverty Alleviation Demonstration Base." "My business has just started, and the road ahead is still long. I am willing, as always, to take every step steadily and do my modest part for the folks back home," Pan Ping said with emotion. "All my life I have no wish but to read all the books in the world. For the rest of my life I have no wish but to put what I have learned to use and benefit society."
