Nanyugou Village is located in the mountainous area southwest of Lushi County, with 134 impoverished households and 483 people, and is a provincially designated poverty-stricken village. Affected by geographical environment and historical factors, the village's power grid structure is simple and its foundation is weak. Since being stationed in the village, the village task force of State Grid Lushi County Power Supply Company has actively fulfilled its social responsibilities, taken improving people's livelihoods and helping poverty alleviation as its own duty, and strictly followed the requirements of precise poverty identification and precise poverty alleviation, actively driving the whole village's people to escape poverty and become prosperous through infrastructure construction and industrial development.
Speaking of the changes in the village's power grid, edible fungus grower Chen Changhai felt it deeply. Engaging in edible fungus production places very high demands on electricity. Previously, the village's power grid was unstable, and when electricity consumption was high, power cuts and outages often occurred, affecting the production and sales of shiitake mushrooms. "After the power grid renovation, our village's planting scale expanded. Even when electricity use was concentrated, there were no power outages, which reduced a lot of trouble." Chen Changhai said that with the support and encouragement of the village task force, his family's edible fungus planting expanded from 5,000 bags to 10,000 bags this year.
In the battle against poverty, electricity goes first. In 2016, based on the actual conditions of Nanyugou Village, Lushi County Power Supply Company invested 1.18 million yuan, renovated 3 transformer districts, added 4 transformer districts, and erected 14 km of high- and low-voltage lines, bringing the average capacity per household to 3.28 kVA, exceeding the standard of 1.5 kVA average capacity for impoverished households. At the same time, with the strong support of the power supply company, the construction of Nanyugou Village's new industry, the 150 kW village-level photovoltaic power generation project, was completed and is expected to be put into use by the end of June.
On the basis of markedly improved infrastructure and power grid conditions, the village task force also followed the approach of "consolidating existing industries and developing new industries," highlighting industrial driving effects to ensure the village has characteristic industries and households have paths to prosperity. At present, edible fungus and Asiatic dogwood planting in Nanyugou Village are developing steadily, and the planting of Polyporus umbellatus, Chinese chestnut, and walnut has begun to take shape; the Lushi chicken and black pig breeding projects developed using the "company + farmers" industrial model have entered the implementation and application stage, and the photovoltaic power generation project will soon be connected to the grid and generate benefits.
