Growing morel mushrooms can bring in hundreds of thousands a year

With the continuous development of modern agricultural technology, many farmers are exploring new ideas and developing new planting projects in the course of farming, and they have also found a path to wealth. In Jintang County, Sichuan, farmer Li Guochun relied on growing morel mushrooms in his fields to achieve a net income of 14,000 yuan per mu, earning hundreds of thousands a year.

Early on, farmer Brother Li had also gone out to work as a migrant laborer, and later returned home to farm the land. After coming back, determined to achieve something, Brother Li discovered that wild morel mushrooms fetched a high market price and were rich in nutritional value. Fresh morel mushrooms sold for 80 yuan/jin, but although wild morel mushrooms could be found, their numbers were limited after all, so he came up with the idea of cultivating morel mushrooms artificially. He began growing 6 mu of morel mushrooms in his hometown. Through studying online materials and books, and because the local air was humid and the temperature and humidity were both relatively suitable for the growth of morel mushrooms, after several trials he gained a slight grasp of the technique for growing morel mushrooms in fields. That year, the yield was 200 jin of fresh mushrooms per mu, with 16,000 yuan in income per mu. After deducting 5,000 yuan in costs, the net income per mu could reach about 11,000 yuan, increasing annual income by more than 50,000 yuan.

You should know that growing only morel mushrooms in the fields for a whole year would be too wasteful, and so the farming model of using one field for multiple purposes came about. Planting is done in November each year, harvesting ends in April of the following year, rice is planted in the fields in May and can be harvested in August, and after harvesting, vegetables are planted, with a planting period of 2-3 months. One mu of rice can bring in 1,800 yuan in income, and vegetables can bring in about 1,800 yuan in returns, for a total net income of about 14,000 yuan per mu. "Growing morel mushrooms on six mu of land, with the highest yield reaching 300 jin per mu, there's no problem earning over a hundred thousand a year," said Brother Li.
