Chinese toon costs 50 yuan per jin, and you can grow it in a single flower pot, picking and eating it fresh anytime.
There was a Chinese toon tree in our old family yard, but I never ate it as a child, mainly because I did not know it was edible! Now in the city vegetable markets, during this very season, Chinese toon is actually 4 yuan per liang, which is truly extraordinarily expensive. In fact, we can absolutely grow it in pots on our own balconies.
Potted Chinese toon trees have been chosen by more and more gardening enthusiasts, but because the Chinese toon tree is a woody plant and grows relatively quickly, there are many details to pay attention to when growing it in pots. This article will briefly discuss the issues that need attention in the process of growing potted Chinese toon trees.

Notes on potted Chinese toon:
1. Light
Chinese toon prefers light. Under conditions of sufficient light, the buds are red and vibrant, the fragrance is strong, and it also grows vigorously. So it should normally be placed on a balcony with ample light for care.
2. Watering
The main management of potted Chinese toon is timely watering, especially now that the weather has warmed up, it is best to spray the plant with a small spray bottle 1 to 2 times a day.
3. Pot and soil
Try to choose a large pot for cultivation. If conditions permit, the potting soil is best mixed with decomposed organic manure (such as cow dung, chicken manure or horse manure, etc.) to increase the soil organic matter content and lay a longer foundation for the robust growth of the potted Chinese toon. If there is no organic fertilizer, it is best to mix in some slow-release fertilizer or, after planting the Chinese toon, apply a certain amount of slow-release fertilizer according to the condition of the tree.
4. Timely pruning
Chinese toon is originally a tree bud. In pot cultivation, besides choosing the right variety, an important point is to effectively control the height of the Chinese toon and increase its yield. If potted Chinese toon is not pruned in time, it can easily grow to more than 2 m.
5. Daily care
The Chinese toon tree is very fond of light, so the care environment must ensure sufficient sunlight, so that the leaves have a rich fragrance. Do not water too frequently in normal times. The Chinese toon tree has a certain cold resistance, but cannot tolerate severe cold. Mature trees can withstand low temperatures of -20°C, while young trees suffer freeze damage at -10°C. Mature trees freeze to death at -25°C.
6. Plant shape control: Controlling the plant shape of potted Chinese toon trees is very important. The first step in controlling the height of Chinese toon is trunk-setting pruning. The so-called trunk setting is to cut the main stem of the Chinese toon and leave a certain height, generally a cut height of 15-20 cm is appropriate. Trunk setting is generally carried out in spring before the Chinese toon sprouts. In order to promote root development, after you buy the Chinese toon, you can let it grow freely in a larger pot. Before it sprouts in the spring of the second year, cut it back to 15-20 cm. After trunk setting, 3-8 new branches can emerge in that same year.
