A young farmer returns to his village to start a business, earning 300,000 yuan a year by growing a new type of pumpkin
With the building of a new socialist countryside, more and more farmers are able to enjoy more policies that benefit agriculture and the people, and farmers' ways of thinking are quietly changing as well. They can no longer be satisfied with the single traditional crop varieties of the past, and have begun to study the cultivation of new specialty varieties.

Zhao Chuansheng comes from a rural area. After graduating from university, he gave up the opportunity to work in the city and chose to return to the countryside to grow "shell-less pumpkins." So-called "shell-less pumpkins" are so named because the shell of their seeds has degenerated into a thin film, leaving the kernel exposed on the outside.
Compared with other crops, growing shell-less pumpkins is much easier. First, the cost is low, requiring only a few hundred yuan. Second, the profit is relatively high. If calculated at 15 yuan per kilogram of seeds, with 100-150 kilograms of seeds harvested per mu, each mu of land can bring in 1,500 yuan per year.
Seeing the great prospects of growing "shell-less pumpkins," Zhao Chuansheng, with his family's help, set up a planting base. He contracted 200 mu of land in the village, and everything developed as he had expected. In his first planting, the yield was 140 kilograms of seeds per mu, and the annual income reached 300,000 yuan, with a net profit of 100,000 yuan.
