Path to wealth:
While at university, Luo Fei already had the idea of starting a business and had long been paying attention to rex rabbit farming. After graduating and starting work, he traveled around the country to learn about the rex rabbit market and study rex rabbit farming techniques. In the area where Luo Fei was based, rex rabbit farming had not yet reached scale and had great potential for development.
After working away from home for two years, by 2012 he had saved up some capital, and Luo Fei returned to his hometown to begin his own entrepreneurial path: rex rabbit farming. When he first came back, he faced opposition from his parents, misunderstanding from friends, and mockery from the neighbors. They thought a university graduate should not return to the countryside to start some business, but should go out to work and earn money. Yet Luo Fei was not swayed by them and firmly pursued his rex rabbit farming venture. The entrepreneurial road has its difficulties, but once the path is firmly chosen, difficulties can always be overcome. The more than 100 breeding rabbits originally raised in cramped hutches, after four years of experimentation and development, have now grown to more than 1,400 breeding rabbits, and the farming environment has also become a fully automated, high-standard barn. As the scale expanded, Luo Fei established the Huameisi Rabbit Industry Cooperative, turning rex rabbit farming into a specialty industry of Jimsar County. Rabbit meat has become popular with diners in the county town's specialty dining sector and is sold as far away as Urumqi and Wucaiwan.
Rabbit meat orders keep coming, and rabbit pelt inventory keeps growing. But in the past two years, rabbit pelt prices have declined year by year, and profits have been unsatisfactory. With the development of tourism in Jimsar County, Luo Fei saw a business opportunity: handicrafts. Why not turn rabbit pelts and rabbit fur into handicrafts? He acted at once, contacting designers, setting up rabbit fur handicrafts, and connecting with manufacturers to produce and sell the handicrafts. Now the sales of rabbit fur handicrafts alone can bring the cooperative 40,000 to 50,000 yuan in net profit. At the same time, Luo Fei is also pushing hard on e-commerce platforms, selling handicrafts and pendants. On May 20 this year, his handicraft sales in a single day reached 10,000 yuan, which shows how popular they are.
Entrepreneurship requires persistence; once wealth is accumulated, it generates compound returns.
