Nanyang's Meng Xiangshan, a National Rural Youth Leader in Becoming Rich, Takes Responsibility in Helping Fellow Villagers

He is not only deeply admired by the villagers, but was also recently jointly awarded the honorary title of "National Rural Youth Leader in Becoming Rich" by the Communist Youth League Central Committee and the Ministry of Agriculture.
In summer, at Dashan Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., founded by Meng Xiangshan, vitality is everywhere, and the faint fragrance of melons, peaches and other fruits fills the air. "After I came back in 2013, I established Dashan Cooperative, absorbing 306 member households. At present, it has developed into a technology company, with a strawberry demonstration base, an organic vegetable base, and an organic fruit tree planting base, and it also raises small-tailed Han sheep, chickens, ducks and fish. From 2014 to 2015, cooperative members' income increased from more than 1,000 yuan per mu to more than 4,000 yuan, and it drove more than 3,000 laborers in the surrounding area into employment, directly helping 126 households escape poverty and become rich." Walking among the melon and fruit fields, talking about helping villagers become rich, the dark-skinned Meng Xiangshan was full of excitement, with confidence and joy in his words.
In 2016, Dashan Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. took on the task of lifting 91 impoverished households, totaling 365 people, in Laizhuang Village and Liangzhuang Village of Wadian Town out of poverty. Meng Xiangshan did not shirk responsibility or complain, but took the initiative and acted actively.
He faced the difficulties head-on and set up a poverty alleviation office and a four-person poverty alleviation working group, with the company's person in charge and agronomists as the backbone. They visited all 91 impoverished households one by one and recorded in detail the composition of each impoverished household's family members, the number of mu of land planted, the planting structure, and the number and types of livestock raised. After grasping the causes of poverty of each impoverished household, he implemented targeted poverty alleviation, providing industrial assistance to impoverished households with planting capacity, offering multi-faceted technical guidance or entrusted management services for their planting operations, and providing one-stop services for planting, management and purchasing.
Meng Xiangshan also provided poverty alleviation industries for impoverished households, adopting a "cooperative + base + grassroots organization + impoverished household" model for assistance to ensure stable poverty eradication. He adopted measures such as transferring impoverished households' land and providing jobs to help increase their family income. At the same time, he regularly carried out training in planting and breeding techniques to strengthen impoverished families' ability to develop themselves and achieve prosperity.
Helping impoverished households escape poverty, Meng Xiangshan is full of confidence. He said: "This is my responsibility, and I have no regrets."
