Xiao Yurong beams with joy as she looks at the organic wheat about to be harvested

“The colored wheat we grow is not only beautiful in color and high in yield, but also has strong health benefits. After this autumn, the cooperative's colored wheat planting area may expand to more than 2000 mu.” On June 7, this writer visited Guozhuang Village, Huangji Township, Yuncheng County, Shandong Province, where Xiao Yurong, founder of the “Shimutianxiang” brand, looked at the bumper colored wheat harvest and happily introduced it to this writer.

Because she spent 12 years repaying 170,000 yuan of her father-in-law's debts, Xiao Yurong was recently rated by Shandong Province as an honest and trustworthy “Shandong Good Person · Weekly Star.” Now “free of debt and light at heart,” she has begun leading the people onto the road to prosperity. With the help of Wang Bingchun, a “First Secretary” dispatched by the Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, Xiao Yurong founded Rongxin Cooperative, registered and developed the “Shimutianxiang” green agricultural product brand, and built a food processing factory to process handmade noodles, purple sweet potato starch noodles and other green agricultural products.

The “Shimutianxiang” product series includes colored wheat, colored mung beans, colored millet, colored corn and more, all processed with traditional stone mills so their nutritional value is not lost; they can be used as food and also have good health benefits. In 2012, “Shimutianxiang” was listed as a “licensed product” of the 10th China Art Festival and a designated product of “Friendly Shandong.” “Shimutianxiang” has also been brought to the table by Yuncheng Hongjunge Catering Co., Ltd., becoming a green coarse grain dish named “Shimutianxiang.”

“Shimutianxiang” has now developed nearly 2000 mu of organic colored wheat and corn, with both production and sales thriving. “I plan to set up unified specialty stores across the province, train dedicated sales staff, and lead the whole village to prosperity……” Xiao Yurong is full of hope for the future.

As a stream of “positive energy” promoting the “tourism to the countryside” project and the building of a new socialist countryside, “Shimutianxiang” is giving off a rich fragrance of the fields.
