New Taipei City Mayor Hou Yu-ih made a special trip yesterday (the 27th) to the newly opened Chenguang Bridge to inspect the Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park and the development of the surrounding area, and instructed the relevant bureaus and departments to turn the site into a large urban park with high international visibility, making it a leisure destination for citizens centered on "health, recreation, active aging and ecology."

Mayor Hou Yu-ih said that the Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park is about 7.7 km long in total and covers about 424 hectares, and is divided into three main themes: the family recreation area, the metropolitan sports area and the ecological experience area. In recent years, the various recreational facilities in the Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park have been continuously improved, including last year's Lucky Grassland Landscape Slide, the Bumblebee Play Paradise recreation area and various baseball and softball fields, making it the best leisure living environment for the people of Greater Taipei; at the same time, the newly opened landscape bridge in the park, Chenguang Bridge, not only enriches the surrounding landscape, but its beautiful light projections also turn the park at night into a romantic base.

Mayor Hou Yu-ih pointed out that the Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park has a vast and open site and convenient transportation, making it suitable for holding all kinds of festival activities. He also encouraged New Taipei City's various activities or international festival activities, such as the Water Splashing Festival and water lantern blessing ceremonies, to be held here, to raise the profile of the waterfront park.

In addition to the above instructions, Mayor Hou Yu-ih also repeatedly reminded the Water Resources Bureau that in the future development of the Greater Taipei Metropolitan Park, flood control remains the most important function, so the planning of equipment and facilities in the park must also incorporate the most important flood control function. He also reminded all bureaus and departments that New Taipei City has experienced many major natural disasters, so doing a good job in flood control is the most important goal for protecting the lives and property of citizens.
